Certificate Signing Request


A Certificate Signing Request (CSR) is a binary file generated from the Web server that is used to request a certificate. It contains encrypted information of your company and domain name. The data within the CSR is used to create a unique digital certificate for a particular device and is also known as the public key.


Generate a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) from your server where the domain is hosted. You need to give the following details while generating CSR:

Email Address (E) – Your Email address

Common Name (CN) – Your Host name (Ex: www.domain.com, domain.com, secure.domain.com, *.domain.com)

Organization (O) – Your Name or Organization

Organizational Unit (OU) – Your Department or Unit within the Organization

Country Code (C) – 2 letter Country Code (Ex: IN, for India)

State (S) – State/Province (Ex: Karnataka)

City (L) – Your City (Ex: Bangalore)
